Some of these came out earlier, but since i’m not a professional music listener i don’t always hear stuff the moment it comes out. I’ll try and add Bandcamp-links and/or music videos where possible. You can also just copy/paste the artist and title in your streamingprovider/musicoutlet of choice, or print the list and go to your local recordstore. You’re an adult. You got this.
In order of vibe:
NEW THIS MONTH #
-
Modeselektor - This Track Kills Fascism #
electronictechnoliterally antifaGerman electronic powerhouse Modeselektor comes at us with a b-side/remix/re-imagined EP reflecting and building on about 25+ years of pumping out cult classics. This track kills fascism, but also is a spiritual redo of “Sucker Pin” for their upcoming Modeselektor Classic Live-tour which unfortunately does not passes through my neighbourhood (as of yet). As usual, the entire EP is worth checking out.
-
Jensen Interceptor - Papa Midnight #
electronictechnoworldFresh off of Jensen Interceptors latest concept EP comes Papa Midnight, a very maximalist (in drums) dark samba/techno hybrid. Doused in fat reecey bass sound, and minimal sampled talking vocals. This is absolutely danceable.

Joshua Idehen - Mum Does the Washing #
electronichousespoken wordREJOICE, Joshua Idehen finally released his full length album, and since I have not posted this song when it came out, this provides me with a second chance to right that wrong. The entire album is top notch, but this song holds a special place in my heart. If ever someone wants to know what a worldview exactly means, send them this song.

Red Sun Atacama - Ragdoll #
rockstonerdesertFrench heavy Psych / Stoner trio Red Sun Atacama released their third full album this month, but to be honest, I’ve never heard of them before. Think QOTSA or High On Fire. Anyway, this is the longest track on the album, and starts of as a speedy, desert-y, nearly Ministry-esque tune before dropping the velocity and screeching to a halt in a bluesey segment where in a live set you’d expect them to introduce the bandmembers. The doubletiming again, refueled. I love this track, and I’ll keep an eye on this band from now on. I love discoveries like these.

Neurosis - Mirror Deep #
metalsludgepost-metalAfter kicking out frontman Scott Kelly in 2022, and thus finalizing their de-facto split, there was little hope to ever hear new Neurosis again. Yet here they are, 40 years after their inception. Aaron Turner (of Isis, Sumac and Old Man Gloom fame) joins them on guitar and vocals. They’ll start playing live again as well, starting with Fire In The Mountains Festival in July. We eagerly await new (European) dates to be added to the roster.
NEW TO ME #
-
Maruja - Look Down On Us #
punkjazznoiseJazz-Punk, yes please. A release I’ve somehow missed last year despite it being right up my alley. I’ve come across this by scouring the line-ups of festivals I like. Which is for now one of my main sources of discovering new music. I’ve devolved back to the early 00’s (the era, not the flour.).
-
Zu - Golgotha #
metalnoisejazzFrom Jazz-Punk to Jazz-Metal, not a big leap I guess. Italian trio Zu released this album in January as a result of 2 years improvising and finetuning. They’ve kept their word (litteraly) and kept it instrumental.
