Some of these came out earlier, but since i’m not a professional music listener i don’t always hear stuff the moment it comes out. I’ll try and add Bandcamp-links and/or music videos where possible. You can also just copy/paste the artist and title in your streamingprovider of choice. In no particular order:

NEW THIS MONTH
#

  • Backengrillen - Repeater II
    #

    jazz
    deathjazz
    experimental

From members of Post-punk/hardcore powerhouse Refused comes this weird…, you know what, i’ll let them explain it themselves as per their press-release:

    Quote

‘Antifascist, antiracists free form death – jazz – in the memory of Lars Lystedt – Backengrillen arrives with new perspectives on jazz. And punk. In-your-face HC jazz inspired by The Cramps, Little Richard, Albert Ayler, Polly Bradfield, Entombed, John Zorn, Misfits, Stooges, Lars Gullin, Can and much more.’

  • PVA - Boyface
    #

    pop
    trip-hop
    no-wave

London based PVA released their second album this month, listen to it entirely. It’s absulutely gorgeous.

  • A$AP Rocky - Punk Rocky
    #

    pop
    hip-hop
    rap

HYPE. Easely my favourite song of the new album. I heard it first on SNL and found the staging to be somewhat weird, but it made sense after seeing the full videoclip.

  • PEEKABOO, Skrillex, Flowdan, Fireboy DML - 6 Million
    #

    electronic
    dubstep
    grime

Listen, whenever i see Flowdan on a track, it’s bound to end up in a playlist. He’s probably one of my favourite bass-lyricist since his feature on The Bug’s Skeng. I first heard this song in this excellent mix, and now it’s out as part of PEEKABOO’s new album “Are we dreaming?”.

  • Two Shell - The Nightmare
    #

    electronic
    techno
    90s revival

The two producers that were once thought to be Burial and Four Tet (who was once thought to be Burial, (next they’ll thell me Kieran Hebden is Four Tet)) are bringing the 90s even backer than they did. This is not their usual glitched-out stuff, but their idea of a summerhit, i guess? I like it though.

  • Ring Noord - It Never Lasts Long Enough
    #

    electronic
    techno
    90s revival

From the creative minds of Noisia’s Sleepnet and Former’s Former comes this 90’s dance-techno-housy thing that wouldn’t look too bad next to some older (haha)Two Shell or Starjunk 95 (see further in this list). DANCEMUSIC IS BACK BABY.

NEW TO ME
#

  • Osheyack - Start
    #

    electronic
    breaks
    saxytime

New Osheyack i somehow missed last year. This is very much on the lighter and easy-listening side of the Osheyack spectrum, maybe the perfect song to warm someone up to his more extremer work.

  • Starjunk 95 - Beat Keep Rockin'
    #

    electronic
    garage
    90s revival

I forgot to write down where i heard this song before, but i do remember it was posted somewhere for the videoclip. This is peak 90’s revival. I’m here for it.

  • Chanpan - endlessly
    #

    electronic
    jungle
    jazz

Jazz and Jungle are two of my favourite genres, yet i seldom listen to the both of them combined. I had this on repeat this month, and probably have this on repeat this summer, where it belongs.

  • Maiya Blaney - Fumbled
    #

    electronic
    jungle
    digital hardcore

This kind of reminds me of a cleaner Atari Teenage Riot, and i mean that in a very very good way.
